Sarrià is - like Gràcia - en old village seperated from Barcelona. However, during the period of expansion i the middle of the 19th century, the village got connected to the Catalan Capital. The area has many beautiful views of the city and the Mediterranean.
Pedralbes
The Pedralbes Monastery - build in gothic style, is one of the most enchanting places in Barcelona. It was founded in 1326 by Queen Elisenda de Montcada, Jaume II’s 2nd wife and today it is an museum, that has expositions on art and about the life in Pedralbes through history.
Pabelló Güell
Build by Antoni Gaud for his Maecenas, Eusebi Guëll, this was the summer residence for the Güell family. The pavilions are known for the imposing door in wrought iron serving as the entrance to the buildings. It has a dragon in it, which refers a story in L'Atlàntida written by Jacint Verdaguer in 1878. Unfortunately the buildings and the adjacent gardens can only be visited on special occasions.
